Lauren L. Hoyt-Wandmacher
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in Arizona and Michigan, and I am excited to join CPIM and learn more about becoming involved. I specialize in Unresolved Trauma (EMDR), Couples Therapy, and Discernment Counseling. I practice in my office in Ann Arbor, and virtually.
Discernment counseling is a short-term, structured process for couples on the brink of divorce, for mixed-agenda couples, where one partner is \"leaning out\" or ready to divorce, and the other partner is \"leaning in\" or wants to reconcile and fix the marriage. I am one of only 9 clinicians trained directly by Dr. William Doherty in the Discernment Counseling Residency Program at the Doherty Relationship Institute. Discernment Counseling is a specialized, short-term process for couples who are on the brink of divorce—when one partner is \"leaning out\" or may feel ready to divorce, and the \"leaning in\" partner hopes to save the marriage. My role is to help the couple slow down, to gain an understanding of how each partner and the relationship are at the place where divorce is a possibility, and decide on the best next step, repair or divorce, with confidence and clarity.
